Effect of Tourist Attractions, Services, and Facilities on Re-Visiting Interests with Tourist Satisfaction as a Mediation Variable in South Nias Tourism Objects North Sumatra Province

Introduction

South Nias, a charming tourist destination in North Sumatra Province, has gained significant attention from tourists worldwide. Its breathtaking natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and warm hospitality of the local population make it an attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists. This study aims to investigate the effect of tourist attractions, services, and facilities on re-visiting interests, with tourist satisfaction as a mediation variable.

The data collected was primary through a questionnaire distributed to tourists who have visited South Nias. A total of 29,129 people were surveyed, with 395 respondents selected using the proportionate sampling method to become a research sample. Hypothesis testing was carried out with a significance degree of 5%, as well as using path analysis, F test, and T test to evaluate the effect of each variable.

Results

The results of this study showed that tourist attractions, services, and facilities have a positive influence on tourist satisfaction. However, when further investigated, only tourist attractions and services show a significant effect on the interest in re-visit. Facilities, although important, do not show a significant effect on tourist decisions to return to South Nias. Simultaneously, tourist attractions, services, and facilities contribute to the interest in re-visit, but partially, only tourist attractions and services that show strong relevance.

Discussion

The findings of this study imply that to increase the interest in re-visit, tourist attraction managers in South Nias need to focus on aspects of the tourist attraction and services provided. The tourist attraction, which includes natural beauty, cultural attractions, and outdoor activities, becomes a key element that can increase tourist satisfaction. Good and responsive service also plays an important role, creating positive experiences that encourage tourists to return.

Conversely, although the facilities in South Nias may support the comfort, the absence of a significant influence of the facilities on the interest in re-visit shows that tourists may prioritize experience and interaction during their trip. This shows that tourist managers need to consider marketing and development strategies that are more focused on aspects of experience than only providing physical facilities.

In conclusion, this study highlights the importance of tourist attractions and services in increasing tourist satisfaction and re-visiting interests.
