Introduction

This study aims to explore the relationship between ethnic identity and Universal-Diverse Orientation in the Tamil community in Medan.

Results

The results of the data analysis showed a significant relationship between ethnic identity and Universal-Diverse Orientation. This finding indicates that although strong ethnic identity can bring about a sense of unity and solidarity within a group, individuals in the Tamil society can also develop an open attitude and respect differences. This shows that the Tamil community in Medan is able to maintain a balance between maintaining their cultural identity and establishing good relations with other ethnic groups.
