Introduction

This study aims to investigate the effect of career development on employee performance at the Medan Polonia Fish Quarantine Center.

Methodology

This study employed a quantitative descriptive method with an explorative case study approach. The population consisted of 26 employees at the Polonia Fish Quarantine Center. Data was collected through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation studies, utilizing a Likert scale as a measurement tool. Simple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the data, with a significance level of 5% for hypothesis testing and partial tests.

Results

The results of this study showed that career development could explain 64.2% of employee performance variables. This indicates that the career development policy adopted by management has a significant influence on improving employee performance. The remaining 35.8% of employee performance is influenced by other variables not examined in this study. Partial test results also confirmed that the hypothesis stating the influence of career development on employee performance was true. This reflects that good career development contributes to employee dedication, loyalty, and achievement.
