Methodology

This study uses a correlational method with a quantitative approach to examine the effect of development communication on community participation in the village of Rantang City. The theory that serves as the basis of this research is the theory of community development communication and participation. The population in this study consists of the entire village community of Rantang City, totaling 6,145 people. The sampling technique used is the Yamane Taro Formula with a 5% precision and a confidence level of 90%, resulting in a sample of 99 people. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling and accidental sampling.

Data collection was carried out through field research using questionnaires, as well as literature research. The data collected is then analyzed through a series of statistical tests, including validity tests, reliability tests, single table analysis, cross table analysis, and the Spearman level coefficient hypothesis test.

Results

The results of this study show that there is a very strong relationship between development communication and community participation in the village of Rantang City, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.840 and a significant number (sig. 2-tailed) = 0.001. This means that the more effective development communication is carried out, the higher the level of community participation in development in the village.

Through the correlation determinant test, it was found that development communication has an influence of 70.56% on community participation. This shows that development communication plays an important role in encouraging people to be actively involved in development in their villages.

Deeper Analysis

The results of this study confirm the importance of development communication in increasing community participation. Effective development communication can build public understanding and awareness of the ongoing development program, so they feel motivated to play an active role in the development process.

Suggestions and Recommendations

Based on the findings of this study, the following suggestions and recommendations are made:

*** Strengthening Communication Development: *** Related parties need to improve the quality of development communication by involving various communication media in accordance with the characteristics of the village community of Rantang City.

*** Increasing Transparency: *** Information related to the development program should be delivered transparently and easily accessible by the entire village community.

This study aims to examine the effect of development communication on community participation in the village of Rantang City, Hamparan Perak, Deli Serdang. The results of this study show that there is a very strong relationship between development communication and community participation, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.840 and a significant number (sig. 2-tailed) = 0.001. This means that the more effective development communication is carried out, the higher the level of community participation in development in the village.

Recommendations for Future Research
