The economic competitiveness of a region has a significant impact on the national economy, including in Langkat Regency, Indonesia. With economic conditions that continue to develop, every region in Indonesia is required to increase its economic competitiveness. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence economic competitiveness in Langkat Regency in 2014. The economic competitiveness of a region is a crucial factor in determining its ability to attract investment, create jobs, and improve the standard of living of its citizens.

Methodology

This study uses the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method and involves 50 respondents consisting of students, teachers, community leaders, bureaucracy, banking sector, non-Sacrifice, and entrepreneurs through the Purposive Sampling Method. The AHP method is a decision-making tool that helps to identify and prioritize the most important factors that influence a particular outcome. In this case, the outcome is the economic competitiveness of Langkat Regency.

Results

The results of this study showed that infrastructure factors became the most important element in increasing economic competitiveness in Langkat Regency, with a weight of 0.293. This shows that the existence of good infrastructure, such as roads, transportation, and other public facilities, has a crucial role in encouraging local economic growth. Adequate infrastructure not only facilitates the distribution of goods and services, but also attracts investment and increases community mobility.
